TOPEKA - (August 9, 2016) - Lindsborg's high school student was chosen as the winner of the state D.A.R.E this year. (Drug abuse prevention education) President Kansas attorney general Derek Schmid announced today

Taylor Hinderliter, a student at the Smokey Valley middle school, was elected as the winner of the statewide competition by the Kansas Junior Officers Association. Last year, Hinderliter took part in Office D.A.R.E of McPherson County Sheriff. The program finally wrote an article about what we learned in the program. Hinderliter is Tom and Gale's daughter.

Schmidt said, "Students who participated in the DARE program learned valuable skills to drug and alcohol risk." "Taylor's article is a good example of the ability of this program to teach young Kansans these skills."
