On the day of 1858, the newly nominated Senator candidate Abraham Lincoln warned at a Springfield talk at the Illinois Republican Congress and faced a crisis that could potentially destroy allies. With an ominous tone, Lincoln talked to over 1,000 representatives and told a passage from the New Testament: "I can not build another house."

The problem of separating countries is the status of slavery in the growing western region and the extent to which the federal regime has rights to individual countries. Lincoln insists that only the federal government has the right to end slavery. The economies and lifestyles on which the southern countries depend depend on cheap labor provided by African-American slaves, but North opposes slavery for moral reasons. Northern countries also think that rather than agriculture, industrialization and manufacturing are key to the future of the US economy. Newly allied countries, such as Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, etc, will cause unresolved conflicts and government agencies, ie state or federal governments, should make final decisions on slavery. Lincoln firmly believes that slavery is immoral and does not conform to the principle of the Declaration of Independence which is embodied in the phrase "everyone is born equally". But Lincoln takes precedence over league advantage.

After Lincoln's speech, some of his friends expressed dissatisfaction with his "extreme" content. Lincoln's lawyer and friend, Leonard Switt later wrote that Lincoln's remarks on using federal government authority to abolish slavery is "regrettable and inappropriate." However, the sweet acknowledged Jeremy Lin finally correct. At the time, the people of Illinois finally agreed to Sweet's view. Lincoln lost Senator Sirsus in the 1858 Senate election and he claimed national sovereignty. Lincoln 's eloquent speech gathered the public' s attention, and his strong performance in public opinion encouraged people to support him in the 1860 presidential election.

Lincoln 's House Split Lecture: The "House Split" speech was a 1858 Republican speech before the State Council of Springfield, Illinois. It warns people that "self-divisive houses can not be built" and refers to slavery issues. Lincoln predicted in the speech that slaves would eventually become free. Freeportism: "freeportism" by Stephen Douglas points out that the elimination of slavery in a region may be decided by voters who refuse to establish a law to protect slavery. In 1858, the Southern people refused this doctrine because they did not abide by the rights of slavery. This reaction hurt him in the election.

Please know your position. Despite warning that Lincoln was a political suicide, he objected to slavery. When the country had a difference with respect to slavery, Lincoln took a disgraceful position that "I could not establish a split house". Friends did not state Lincoln on this issue, but Lincoln was inevitable of his leadership. When these emotions are told, if I am determined that I should resign for this speech, then let me relate to the truth. Pens that erase my whole life from sight, and I have poor gifts and choices to leave something to save from the shipwreck. I should choose that speech and leave it to the world without experience.
