Significant progress has been made in the care of patients with mental illness since the 1800s, and many of these advances are thought to be due to Dorothea Dix. At some point in the 19th century, many people thought that people with mental illness were "lost souls". People think they can not cure these patients and they are not helpless. Psychiatric patients are abused, exploited, beaten, thrown into a dirty dormitory, and abused. Dorothea Dix, a pioneer of her era, supported psychiatric patients. She changed the way they saw these people, and the most important thing was how they were treated.
Dorothea Lynde Dix was born on 4th April 1802 in Hampden, Maine. She is the first of three children born in Mary Bigelow Dix and Methodist missionary Joseph Dix. During the major part of Dorothy's infancy, her mother suffered from depression and was bedridden. Her father is an insulting drunkard. Dorothy took responsibility for their care after her mother bore the other two children, Joseph and Charles. Mrs. Dix is very wealthy and asks Dorothy to behave like a wealthy girl. She hired a dance instructor and tailor to meet the personal needs of Dorothea. But she is not interested in these things. Her grandmother punished Dorothy severely when she tried to present new clothes to the child of hearing impaired who is standing at the door.
The life of Dix Mansion is very different from the customary life of Dorothea. Her grandmother was very rich, so I acted on Dorothy and asked me to have a girls' rich interest. Her grandmother hired a dance instructor and a tailor to meet Dorothy 's personal needs. However, Dorothy does not want these things. At one point her grandmother severely punished her when she tried to provide food and new clothes to the children standing on the door. At the age of 14, Mr. Dix lived in Worcester to his sister and asked Dorothy for a while to change it to "male". Mrs. Dixon's older sister, Mrs. Duncan, agrees that she always likes Dorothy. When she got to her aunt's house, Dorothy immediately played the role of "Miss" and was able to return to his brother's house. However, she has been with my aunt for nearly four years.
