As an individual living in a community in which gang violence is a problem, I am thankful that I can participate in today's campaign to reduce gang violence. According to the Canadian Bureau of Statistics, the gang related killings between 2011 and 2012 have not been changed, and there are 0.27 victims per 100,000 people. [1] In Ontario from 2002 to 2012, the number of deaths in 2003 reached 38 people, and in 2004 it decreased sharply to 17 people. These figures show that gang related violence is occurring every year in many communities.
Today there are violent epidemics of youth groups in several parts of Canada where young groups are killed each other and the suicide rate goes beyond any other group in Canada.
