Michelangelo, along with Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, is one of the three superstars of the Florentine renaissance. Michelangelo's name is quoted often, 23 years younger than Leonardo, 8 years older than Raphael. Due to his secret nature, he has little to do with the two artists, they have lived together for over 40 years. Michelangelo took a few sculptures away. He was a classmate at Medici College and hired Francesco Gran Nach, one of the assistants on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo seems to be using an assistant mainly for doing more manual work to arrange the surface and polish the color. Still, his work will have a major impact on future generations of painters, sculptors and architects.
