Lawrence Sullivan Ross: The Hero of the Great State of Texas

Lawrence Sullivan rose or more common slos was born on 27th September 1838 at Bentonport, Iowa. He is the second son of Catherine Fulkerson and Shapley Prince Ross (Benner) and the fourth child. In 1839, the family of Ross moved to the new Texas republic, and the young Ross first met a hostile Indian (Benner). Speaking of his education, after studying for one year at Baylor University in Texas, he transferred to Wesleyan University in Alabama and obtained a degree in A. B in 1859.

Former federal governor of Lawrence Sullivan Roth became 19th Governor of Texas in 1886. His campaign focused primarily on land use reform.
