Language and Culture in an Immigrant Society

This year my professor of language anthropology won the podium on the first day of the class and I was surprised how they feel about that language. He first told us that he specializes in human suffering, probably suggesting that language is the source of pain. Dr. Song was a Korean immigrant, and his voice in his own language challenged him. America, which grew up in modern society, makes his mother tongue a solid language. It was Korean in my mother tongue who bothered my professor, but I close my eyes narrowing my eyes because the English speaking person was near him.

Language and culture are complicated and depend on each other. Language is formed by culture, culture is influenced and affected by language. Language is a medium of culture.
