Landscape with the Fall of Icarus Essay

Two poets, William Carlos Williams and W. H. Oden, wrote poems based on Burger's painting, each leaving a profound and meaningful message to the readers. In the landscape of Icarus, William Carlos Williams proposed that everything has a place and purpose, that is, "farmers are doing agriculture." Even in the painting "Fallen scenes of Ikaros", Bruegel shows that there are places and purposes like tillers, fishermen, and shepherds. Their purpose is to show that everyone has what they ought to do, and to do something they should not do results. In the case of Icarus, he could not fly and did not do what he wanted to do, so there was no result of "death".
