Korean History and Culture

Prior to the 17th century including the second and half century, Korea has adhered to a non-reciprocal tradition with countries other than China, due to the history of catastrophic attacks by neighboring countries. Such aggression included Japanese invasion in 1592 and 1597, Manchurian invasion in 1627 and 1636. Korea is known as "Kingdom of the King" because the border is closed (Eunjung and Wolpin 2008). Until 1875, South Korea accepted diplomatic relations and had only signed the Conwy Treaty of 1876 with Japan (Eunjung and Wolpin 2008; Kim 1980).

Korea's history and culture professor UCLA Jennifer John Kim explained that this is only a modern turning point of traditional Buddhism retreat. Confucianism in Korea is a type of Confucianism who emerged and developed in Korea. One of the most important influences in South Korea's ideological history is to use Confucianism as part of Chinese culture's influence. Today, Confucian heritage remains the fundamental part of Korean society, forming a sophisticated culture which is the basis of moral system, lifestyle, ancient and youth, and many legal institutions . Confucianism of Korea may be regarded as a practical way to unite the civil war inherited from the Goryeo dynasty and countries without internal opposition.
