If the Kindle does not charge or takes more than 6 hours to fully charge, follow the troubleshooting steps below. Support for any Kindle eReader model (6th generation or later)
If the charging of the Kindle are using the power adapter, please make sure that the USB cable that came with the device is securely connected to the power adapter. Sometimes the battery charging problem may be caused by malfunction or damage to the USB cable or power adapter.
After reading, please put Kindle to sleep mode. To put the Kindle into sleep mode to extend battery life, press the power button on the device. Kindle Oasis (8th generation) closes the lid and places the Kindle in sleep mode.
Please turn off wireless connection. When connecting to a Wi-Fi or 3G network, Kindle will use more batteries. To turn off the wireless connection, click the quick action icon (gear), and then click "Airplane Mode".
Charge the Kindle with a compatible power adapter. You can charge the Kindle with the included USB cable. Note: Some computers and old keyboards can not supply enough power to fully charge the device. With a compatible power adapter (sold separately), it takes less than 6 hours to charge the Kindle
Please restart Kindle. Disconnect the device from the USB cable and press and hold the power button for 7 seconds. In the [Power] dialog that appears, click [Restart]. When the Kindle has restarted, connect the USB cable to the Kindle and your computer or power adapter that is compatible with, and make sure the Kindle is being charged.
