Kayak Public Transit

Kayak Public Transit provides community and financial support by managing a multimodal regional transportation system entering the southeastern part of Washington State and the northeastern part of Oregon. Currently I am running six fixed routes using Hermiston Heart, Hermiston Hopper, La Grand Arrow, Mission Metro, Pilot Rocket, Tutui La Tripper, Walla Walla Whistler. Our transit plan is funded by federal subsidies, state grants, and the CTUIR General Fund. Fixed-line bus service is now generally free.

Since its founding in 2001, our passenger number has increased with the expansion of routes and services. In 2008, our transportation service provided approximately 46,918 vehicles. In 2013, 96,073 rides were offered.

In 2014, CTUIR hired a public transport project manager, fleet and safety manager, and public transport staff to develop a public transportation project in the planning room and to keep up with the growing public transportation service without delay . A new transportation center including bus warehouses and repair shops was completed at the end of 2013 and fully operated on January 1, 2014.
