Just-in-time (JIT) is a Japanese manufacturing management method developed in the 1970's. First adopted at Toyota manufacturing plant in Ohno Taichi. One motivation for developing JIT is the need for better production technology after World War II. Japan is very motivated to develop good manufacturing technology to help them rebuild their economy. They also have a strong work competition that focuses on work and leads to continuous improvement. These motivations have contributed to the success of the Japanese economy.

Just-in-time (JIT) is an inventory strategy adopted by the company to reduce inventory costs by increasing efficiency by simply receiving goods during the production process and reducing waste.
