Juno Award for Traditional Jazz Album of the Year

The Juneau prize of "The Traditional Jazz Album of the Year" has been awarded since 1977 and has won Canada's Best Traditional Jazz Album each year. It is called other name including Best Jazz Album (1977-1993) and Best Mainstream Jazz Album, Best Traditional Jazz Album - Instrument Award category. [1] It was abolished in 2015

Two times JUNO nominated Shirantha Beddage is Baritone saxophone, composer, educator from Toronto, Canada. His latest album "Momentum" featuring Gold Jacket Drummer Will Kennedy, was nominated for the annual Jazz Album (Solo) at 2017 JUNO Awards. His work won the Galaxy Rising Star Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the award for the TV series "Fargo" that won the Golden Globe Award, and the Excellence Award in Canada's Song Creation Competition. He currently serves as the theoretical director of the Bachelor's degree in music at Humber College, where he teaches classroom courses, ensemble and private courses.

From 2001 to 2011, the American Grammy Awards received the Best Native American Music Album of the Year, and the Juno Awards received the annual Aboriginal Recording Award respectively. On 6th April 2011, the Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album will be integrated into the best Hawaiian music album and the best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album category and new category, best regional root music album. This change is part of a massive restructuring of the Grammy category.
