Juan Ponce de Leon (1474 - 1521) is a Spanish explorer and today he is highly regarded for his discovery in North America. He was one of the first Europeans who entered the Gulf of Mexico and was the first person to step in the Florida expedition. Juan Ponce de Leon was born in Santevas, Spain, and was sometimes born as a son of a wealthy aristocratic family from 146 to 1474.
