Jonathan Swift: Satire writer and Irishman Jonathan Swift is one of the most satiristic writers in the history of British literature. Seven months after my father died, Ireland 's Dublin was born in 1667 and Swift led a difficult life. At the age of 14, Swift entered the University of Dublin's Trinity College where he stayed for seven years. After graduating in 1688, he traveled to the UK to serve as a secretary and personal aid to the Sir William Temple. In 1694 he was appointed a pastor of the Irish church (British Church) and appointed a pastor of Kirros (paris priest), a church near Belfast (Northern Ireland). In 1692 Swift won a master's degree from Oxford University and returned to Temple in 1696.
