John Hancock

John Hancock Many great people in our country have changed the fate of our country throughout history. These people may not remember, but they change the direction of our country. People remember John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, George Washington and others. But like John Hancock, one in 300 Americans knows him. Even though he is not remembered, John Hancock is one of the best people who changed the fate of our country.

John Hancock was born on January 23, 1737 in Braintree, Massachusetts (now Quincy), Mary Hawk, Senior John Hancock, clergy. When John was a child, Hancock of the older died, and his mother took him and his brothers and sisters to live in Lexington's law. She later sent John, Lydia and Thomas Hancock to live with his aunt and uncle. My husband and I did not have children, so I adopted that boy. Thomas is a wealthy businessman with a very successful shipping business. John continued to attend Harvard University, his father's alma mater, and since graduating in 1754, he worked with his uncle. In 1759, John advanced to London, lived there for a while, and returned to the colony in 1761. After the death of Thomas in 1764, John took over family business and heritage.

John Hancock was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on January 23, 1737. His parents are graduates of Harvard University, Ministers John Hancock and Mary Hawk. When his father died when Hancock was 7 years old, his uncle was a wealthy Boston businessman. Hancock graduated from Harvard University in 1754, worked as an employee at his uncle's office and traveled to London as a representative of the company in 1760. He spent there for a year. In 1763, Hancock became a lively development partner of his uncle.

John Hancock was born as part of the town in Braintree, Massachusetts on January 23, 1737, and eventually became an independent city of Quincy. He is the son of Braintree's John Hancock Jr. and Mary Hawke Thaxter (heritage of Samuel Thaxter Junior) from nearby Hingham. As a child, Hancock became a coincident acquaintance of the young John Adams, and the priest of Hancock baptized them in 1735. Hancock was living a comfortable life and had a slave to help with the housework. After Hancock's father died in 1744, John was sent to live with his uncle and aunt, Thomas Hancock and Lydia (Henchman) Hancock. Thomas Hancock is the owner of a company called Hancock House, importing goods from the UK, exporting rum, whale oil and fish. A very successful business by Thomas Hancock has made him one of Boston's richest and most famous resident. He and Lydia and some servants and slaves lived in Beacon Hill's Hancock Estate.
