John Berger’s Ways Of Seeing

I am reading John Berger's previous book "Confabulations" that reminds me of the influence of his book "The Way I See" when I saw it for the first time ten years ago. I drew this map in 2008.

As he is a painter, Burger is always a visual thinker and writer. In a conversation with novelist Michael Ondaatje, he commented that the ability of the film editor influenced his writing. He believes that his greatest concern and desire is that the movie could turn into a closeup from a broad perspective.

One of the things Berg's work taught me quickly was the power of subtitles. It is a simple way to change the text below the image and fundamentally change the information in the image. This is an example of this book.

It took me a while to notice that it was based on the BBC series of the same name in 1972 as I first discovered it in the form of a book. In John Berger's "The Way of Seeing" he believes there is a gap between seeing something with one eye and explaining it in spoken language.
