Saturday, November 30, 2013 is the fourth night of Hanukkah. My friend Brandon and I also visited the Marlboro Jewish Life Center in New Jersey. According to the information I collected from various online news articles, this is a fairly new reformist synagogue in 2004. The place has opened. The location of the current temple is the former Monmouth Worship Center. With the help of the congregation, Ravi Yoshi Kanasuki moved to a building of 18,000 square feet in 2011.
The Jewish quarter is well preserved and has a Spanish synagogue, one of the most beautiful synagogues in the world. However, cemeteries, other synagogues, Kafka statues, and surrounding shops are worth visiting. If you have not heard embarrassing stories, local people can ask you. On two separate weekends, we headed to a nearby town. At the beginning is Kutna Hora, there is an impressive cathedral (and a small church made of human bones). On another weekend, I went to a quaint town, Eski Krumlov with a student agent bus. Although the tourists here are a bit crowded, the scenery and old houses are beautiful, worth a day trip.
Until the city was destroyed by the Portuguese in 1468, Anfa's Spanish Jewish community. The Jews returned very slowly to the town, but by 1750 the rabbin synagogue was built as the first synagogue of Casablanca. It was destroyed with most of the town during the 1755 Lisbon quake. Today, the Jewish cemetery in Casablanca is one of the main cemeteries in the city. The Jewish Museum in Morocco is a museum established in the city in 1997. It is the only museum in the Arab world dedicated to Judaism (see also the history of Jewish people in Morocco)
Bergoglio is closely tied to the Jewish community in Argentina and in 2007 participated in the Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) service at the synagogue of Buenos Aires. During the visit he told the Jewish congregation that he went to the synagogue to check his heart, "Like you, pilgrims, my brothers." AMIA 1994 After bombing the Jewish community center who murdered 85 people a year, Bergoglio signed a petition, accused the attack, became the first celebrity demanding justice. Leaders of the Jewish community around the world pointed out that after the attack, his speech and action indicated "solidarity with the Jewish community."
