The rapid development of jazz in the United States and Europe has produced various forms of musical expression, including music that most listeners today do not believe are "jazz" music. To compensate for this, jazz musicians and critics since 1930 began editing the contents of "real" jazz, more importantly the contents of "real" jazz. This truthful constructive character is usually divided along ethnic boundaries and helps to reduce artists and style (people beyond mainstream) to the edge of history.
