In the UK there are two major colonies in the New World, Jamestown and Plymouth. The first colony was Jamestown, founded in Virginia state in 1607. Jamestown was settled by Captain John Smith and named after James I. Tobacco is the main export item of Jamestown, the basis for the Jamestown economy, and sent more than £ 50,000 to the program to return to Europe in 1618 (textbook 46). Jamestown had a very difficult start, many colonists died in the first few years of settlement and settlers and local people had many problems.
Both Jamestown and Plymouth 's settlement were resolved in the early 1600' s. Plymouth and Jamestown are on the coastline of Massachusetts and Virginia respectively. Both of them have different forms of government, but they all have strong leadership. Jamestown is controlled by a company in London who wants to benefit from a joint venture. Meanwhile, Puritan settled in Plymouth settled in the New World to self-govern in the early days of democracy and gain freedom of religion. John
The main difference between early Jamestown and Plymouth is the role of religion in colonial affairs. Jamestown is a secular community ruled by the riches of the Anglican church and prominent rulers. Religion and practice are not an important factor in the existence of colonies. Plymouth is a religious organization of Puritans who is dedicated to pursuing their lives according to the principles of Calvinism. While sharing the same religious principle, Plymouth's political leaders are very different from religious leaders. Whereas Plymouth 's political leaders were totally elected by settlers, Jamestown' s leader was a British aristocrat elected and retained by a Virginia company.
Comparing Plymouth and Jamestown is a completely different colony. Jamestown began to grow ten times more than Plymouth 13 years ago. Jamestown is a "company town", colonizers are employees of a company in Virginia. According to the instructions of London, colonial parliament was ruled as a board. Plymouth is a colony of colonial contracts that are governed by pilgrims and personal control. That governing body is not responsible for King, Virginia company and its investors.
