James T. Russell and the Invention of the Compact Disc

James Russell and CD invention James Russell was born in Bremerton, Washington State in 1931. His first invention at the age of six was a remotely operated battleship with a storage room for him to have lunch. In 1953, he acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics and graduated from Reid University in Portland. Later he went to a laboratory near General Electric in Washington, Richland as a physicist. So he began many experimental equipment projects.

In 1980, Russell completed the project and presented it to Sony. Solid state drive (SSD) has recently been introduced as a mass storage device and uses NAND based flash memory to store data. They have a higher reading and writing speed than conventional magnetic rotating disk type hard disks. They are more reliable as they have no moving mechanical parts (less wear) and are generally more resistant to physical shock, quiet operation, shorter access time and shorter latency It is considered to be stronger.

Disk technology was first invented in the mid 1960's and was patented by inventor James T. Russell in 1970. Sony and Philips, film formats that were not actually adopted in the VHS-driven market, modeled on laser discs, cooperated in the 1980s to improve the media.
