James Baldwin and the Jewish Freedom Riders

In the summer of 1961, when volunteers used the southern bus to integrate public transport, most of the people who promised to undertake this dangerous job were Jews. Instead, nearly two-thirds of the free knights are Jews, which is "pretty awesome achievement for a few people and accounts for less than 2% of the total population of the United States" (Weinblatt 5). The Jews and African Americans are two different and often opposed cultural groups in our society but the great struggle to eliminate American racial discrimination is tightly linking these two groups I will.

In May 1961, a black-and-white free rider got on a bus to the southern province. At each site, they are planning to enter the quarantine area. James Farmer, the core director, says: "We believe that southern racists can rely on crisis, so that the Federal Government is forced to enforce the law." But in Alabama, Caucasian supremacy The people surrounded the freeride buses, ignited them and attacked the riders when they left. On the outskirts of Birmingham, Alabama, the second bus stopped. Eight white people got into the bus and beat cruelly non-violent free knights with bars and chains.

When he heard about violence, President Kennedy sent a federal agency to protect free knights. The President urged the Free Order to quit, but they refused. Hundreds of free knights were beaten, imprisoned, often exposed to violence and police brutality. Free riding did not reach the planned destination, New Orleans, but its aim was achieved. At the request of the Kennedy administration, the interstate commerce commission ordered the integration of all the interstate buses, trains, and airport terminals. Signs of "color" and "white" parts appear on over 300 southern sites

Freedom rider was a group of white and African-American civil rights activists who took part in a free ride and participated in a southern bus tour in 1961 to protest the isolated bus terminal. Liberty Knights is trying to use a "white restricted" washroom and lunch counter at bus stops in Alabama, South Carolina and other Southern states. These groups face the arrest of police along their route - and the terrible violence of white protesters - but they are attracting international attention to their causes.
