J. Sainsbury PLC Introduction In this unit, we chose J Sainsbury's PLC. I was working part time there, so I chose to do this, and personnel information was easy to obtain. This portfolio shows the importance of human resources for large enterprises and how they function within the company to increase their efficiency. Sainsburys is one of the UK 's leading food retailers and also manages real estate and financial services.

The case study I chose to write a report was "J Sainsbury PLC, one of the UK's leading food retailers" (checkSURE - 2011). The major companies of J Sainsbury PLC are those of Sainsbury Supermarkets Ltd., or more generally of Sainsbury. Sainsbury is the second largest supermarket chain in Tesco, England. Overall, Sainsbury accounted for 16.6% of the UK's total market share in the supermarket sector, recently exceeding ASDA, market share increased by 0.3%. "This organization is the oldest major food retail chain in the UK" (Bized - 2002). In addition, J Sainsbury and Lloyds Banking Group also own Sainsbury's Bank. In addition, it is traded jointly with Land Securities Group PLC and The British Land Company PLC with two joint ventures.

The organization I chose for this work was J Sainsbury plc. J Sainsbury plc is one of the world's leading retailers, serving 15 million customers each week. John James and Mary founded the Sainsbury supermarket in 1869. The Sainsbury supermarket has more than 138,000 people. 70% is part time, 30% is full time. 58% of my colleagues are women. The large Sainsbury supermarket offers more than 23,000 products - 40% of which are their own brands of Sainsbury. Sainsbury is serving approximately 10 million customers per week at 432 stores in the UK. Of these stores, 17 are in Scotland, 9 are in Wales, 7 are in Northern Ireland. Nearly 60% of the stores are located in the city center or the center. Sainsbury's mission is to provide superior quality and service at a competitive cost through faster and easier work.
