Introduction Festivals are held throughout Japan. They have different sizes, from small to large, or completed in a day for several days. Normally, Japanese festivals symbolize cities and areas where festivals are held, and tell the tradition to the future. In this article, we first clarify what sustainability is and what sustainable development events are. Then, it explains one of the biggest festivals in Japan, Gion Festival, and shows how it affects the economy.
Gion Festival is a festival in Kyoto. This is one of the best festivals in Kyoto. I am in the top 3 in Japan. The Japanese also put this festival into three top festivals in Japan. This is the most famous and biggest Japanese festival in a month. The Gion festival is held every year from July 1 to 29 at Tigasaka Shrine in Higashiyama Town Higashiyama City, Kyoto. The Gion Festival has a history of more than 1100 years. In 869 AD, Kyoto suffered from epidemics, floods, fires and earthquakes. Yasaka Shrine's march began to pray for the end of the plaque and to appease the gods. This is the first festival and people take lots of wooden rings to please the gods. As the plague ended soon, the festival became popular. People participate in the parade every year. Soon it became a festival of music, dance, cartoon and art treasure. People began making beautifully decorated huge floats.
According to the schedule, summer officially began in June, but most Japanese thought that summer will not actually start until summer finishes in early July. This season will be held from 17th July to 24th July at the famous Gion music festival in Kyoto. It is welcomed as one of the most traditional festivals in Japan, but its reputation brought many foreigners and local audiences. To be honest, I will warn people who are not good for a lot of people to avoid this.
