Owen Washington was born in New York in 1783, became a large family, the youngest among eleven children. His career started in the law firm, and he felt this was not his mind. His personality was simple and ironical, and he tried to write a magazine called "morning chronicle" for his brother Peter. Later Irving and Peter thought about creating a high quality literary ridicule. Original text is a satirical doctor "New York Pictures".
The satirical "history of New York" of Washington Irving and the stupid influence of its famous fictional writer, Didrich Knickerbocker, complicates the review of the new Dutch legacy. Since its publication in 1809, Owen has dominated the popular imagination of colonies with a romantic view of enlightened, lazy Dutch farmers. To this day, there are many people who mistakenly believe that Irving's two most famous short stories "Lip Van Winkle" and "Legend of Sleepy Valley" are based on actual folklore of Dutch farmers in Hudson Valley .
Washington Irving was born and grew up in New York City, the youngest eleven child among prosperous merchant families. Owen named after President George Washington (1732 - 1799) was fascinated by the upper class of New York and often creeps up to attend families' prayer meetings at local theaters. Irving is an apprentice of a law firm (trying to gain trading experience) instead of chasing his brothers to the nearby Columbia University as a dreamy and uninfested student. He read and passionately sang when he was able to wander in the fog Hudson Valley at free time. This area in the north of New York City was immersed in local folklore and legends and influenced his subsequent work.
