Invisible Cloak

I can almost taste the smell of oil, just a little cigarette, I breathe deeply and try to calm myself. The room of the clerk was dark and quiet so it was not like the embarrassment of the fourth grade classroom I just kidnapped. When my eyes get used to dim light, my attention jumps from things to things. Drills hanging on the walls, saws, tool boxes and various props all appeal for exploration. At the beginning of this year, I gave a speech on Stealth Mathematics at the British Science Festival. Most of the presentation concerns research on my recent invisible clothes and earthquake metamaterials. But another type of invisible mathematics that is running in my speech is the idea that mathematics and more specifically applied mathematics are the basis of much of the work in all areas of science is.
