Since the end of the Cold War, new international challenges have emerged. Countries face threats to security and well-being, such as terrorism and internal conflict. International conflict has been a major global war attacked by the most powerful countries in the world, but now we see countries that are trying to resolve conflicts before the situation gets worse. War is expensive in many ways, it can ruin the country and hurt its people. Each country will use various dispute management and resolution techniques to terminate the fatal battle or prevent battle.
The Cold War and its events left a great heritage. It is often mentioned in popular culture, especially in the context of spy-themed media (especially internationally successful James Bond books and movie franchises) and the threat of nuclear warfare. At the same time, the tension (including Western allies) between Russia in 2010 and the successor countries of the United States and Russia was again called the Second Cold War. At the end of World War II, British author George Orwell used the Cold War as a collective term of the article "you and the atomic bomb" published in the British newspaper "Tribune" published on October 19, 1945. Given the world in the shadow of the threat of nuclear war, Orwell saw the prediction of the polarized world of James Burnham and wrote:
Most Americans think it is difficult to adapt to the idea of not doing the Cold War. Since 1945, Americans have developed Cold War culture such as McCarthy's magic, backyard evacuation centers, space race, missile crisis, mitigation, Soviet invasion into Afghanistan, Star Wars defense planning. The enemy is being beat now, but the world is not yet safe. In many ways, it is easier to stand up to a superpower than challenge dozens of fraudulent states and insurgent groups to sponsor global terrorism.
Since the end of the Cold War, the defense industry in Italy has experienced two complementary aspects - concentration and internationalization. The latter can be further divided into two specific moments: the European internationalization phase and the transatlantic stage. A detailed analysis of the whole process of development and extension of the Italian Defense Industry Base is beyond the scope of this document. The focus will be a fundamental step related to the concentration and internationalization of Finmeccanica as the eighth largest company in the Italian defense industry, especially the aerospace, defense and security field.
