International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM)

IEOM Society International is Pretoria in South Africa and will hold the first international conference on industrial engineering and operations management in Africa from 29th October 2018 to 1st November 2018. The place is St. George Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa. This conference is aimed at providing academic researchers, researchers and practitioners a forum for exchange ideas and latest developments in industrial engineering and operational management. The conference will also promote networking, collaboration and collaborative efforts among conference participants to advance theory and practice and identify key trends in industrial engineering and operational management.

Authors can only submit complete papers or summaries for presentation. Abstracts not submitting complete academic papers should provide opportunities for project and industry representatives to share their knowledge and experience. IEOM encourages the submission of complete papers. All completed papers receive double peer review. The selected papers will be posted in the minutes of the conference and indexed by Scopus.

Industrial engineering or "management": One of the problems highlighted in the previous chapter is that "management" enables industrial engineering in service operations. It is important to understand the differences between these seemingly interdisciplinary disciplines in order to achieve the right balance between industrial engineering and "management". Nonetheless, the difference between industrial engineering and "management" is that industrial engineering places greater emphasis on modeling, analysis, organization and design of operations and processes in every production system, including service operations. On the other hand, "management" focuses on operational and business aspects of operation. There are several industrial management components in industrial engineering, but these components are focused on operational engineering. In this view, solutions can be obtained by rigorous quantitative analysis that has a great financial impact.
