Intellectual Humility

Delphi 's Oracle claims that Socrates is the wisest person in Athens. Paradoxically speaking, being wise is that he knows not to know anything. Socrates is unique in that it has wisdom and humility. His wisdom comes from the ability to recognize the limits of his knowledge and use it as a starting point for true exploration.

In the 6 episode series John Templeton Foundation generously funded, we invite the audience to examine intellectual humility from all angles. Do you understand if you know something? How do we identify and destroy our own cognitive bias? How do you humbly agree? Does science truly have all the answers? Can religious beliefs and wisdom be reconciled? How can we increase the humility of knowledge in online public discourse?

The humility of intellectuals' ethical knowledge includes recognition of the limitations of your knowledge and distorted effects of your view. It results in not claiming to be more realistic than you really know. The humility of wisdom indicates the lack of self-declared intellectuals. Intellectual courage represents your motivation to change your faith. It involves recognizing negative prejudices and opinions, which allows you to accept ideas and concepts that are fairly pre-determined. It involves asking social norms to develop their own views

Modesty relates to integrity, honesty, and selfless mind, but the intellectuals are open-minded and open minded, commensurate with their beliefs and evidence. Intellectually discreet people strongly believe in a certain topic but I am aware that they are aware of their limits and that I am willing to be wrong by others. Philosophers and psychologists who have been studying intellectual humility - for example director of Prosperity Center for Human Development - Justin Barrett - says it is a very valuable feature in the workplace and in life. Tenelle Porter, a postdoctoral psychologist at the University of California Davis, explained the intellectual humility that the ability to recognize what we know is very limited. As her research suggests, a higher level of intellectual humility is related to greater will, not thinking outside of us. People with intellectual humility make better grades at school and at work. why? When we acknowledge that our knowledge is limited, the world is constantly changing and it is easier to understand that the future is different from the present. By accepting this insight, leaders and employees can begin to recognize the power of exploration.
