As humans develop new technologies, the scale and severity of waste are increasing. It was widely believed that when computers were developed, the need for paper could be eliminated. On the contrary, I find that this is wrong and we are using more paper than ever. Canada is no exception. Typical Canadians deliver an average of 3 pounds of solid waste per day 1. This alone indicates that we have become careless seed - we use and process the materials without even considering the damage we cause.

These facilities usually do not require as much land as landfill. Waste energy (WtE) or waste energy (EfW) is a broad term for facilities that burn waste in furnaces or boilers to produce heat, steam or electricity. Combustion in incinerators is not necessarily perfect, and people were concerned about the pollutants emitted from the incinerator chimneys.
