In the Merriam Webster dictionary, infant murder is a term that is expressed as killing an infant. Other sources describe it as killing their own children or killing children under 12 months. Killing a woman is more common than killing the offspring of a man. Usually mothers are killed. Babysitters have been recorded since ancient times, and they are dying of babies because of hunger, thirst, animal attack or hypothermia.
To kill a woman's baby is to deliberately kill her newly born baby. In countries with a history of women with infant murder, contemporary practices of sexual abortion are often discussed as closely related issues. Murdering girls is the greatest concern in several countries, including China, India and Pakistan. Some people think that observing women's "low status" in patriarchal society harm women. In 1978, anthropologist Lila Williamson summarized the data on the prevalence of infant murder in tribes and developed countries or "civilized" countries and discovered infant murder in all continents. And it is carried out by a group of Hunter collectors. For a highly developed society, this is not only an exception but also general.
In the Quran, murder is prohibited. But before Muslim, the baby was killed because of "postpartum care". Murder is as a departure from poverty (and hence men and women), or as a sacrifice to God, or as "a fear of his daughter's birth disappointment and social shame". It is usually due to economic problems. During the famine, families will kill infants. As cultural norms require the son to be the best, the daughter is considered a burden because she can not feed the family as easily as their son. For poor families, the daughter 's daughter' s expenses may be too high. As the Indian proverb says, "To have a daughter is like watering your neighbor's garden"
