The importance of Special Olympics "About 2 million special needs participants participate in Special Olympics events around the world every year" (Special Olympics). Special Olympics gives people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy sports opportunities like other athletes. Special Olympics shows athletes' achievement, skills, and courage. Through Special Olympics, sports have a positive influence on the lives of people with special needs and they allow them to live an active life.

Over the past 40 years I have been considering the Special Olympics everyday. First of all, as a volunteer, President of Special Olympics in Ireland, and today as International CEO of Special Olympics, Regional Chairperson of Special Olympics Europe Eurasia. I think that athletes and sports of joy will bring their lives. I recall the progress that we have accomplished in order to create a better world for the past and those with mental retardation. I also think about the future and the appearance of all members of our movement.

Last week I was able to spend EKS Day with several Special Olympics specialists such as Monty Castevens in Florida Special Olympics, Dennis Aldridge in Special Olympics in Wisconsin, Mike Quinn in New Hampshire. Former managing director of Special Olympics, Bobby Doyle of Special Olympics in Arkansas, Emmanuel Bourgeois former CEO of Louisiana Special Olympics, Dave Kelchner of Kentucky Special Olympics, and Maine's Special Olympics Mickey Boutier

Since my return home my life was a lively whirlwind. I was invited to sponsor a number of different supporters and Special Olympics to talk about my experiences in Athens and how Special Olympics changed my life. Talking with a lot of people is somewhat scary, but as a direct result of participation in the Special Olympics, when thinking about how far I went and what I achieved in my life, I managed to do something I am glad to help me.

The Olympic Games are held every four years and are held by specific cities, not one country. Olympics can be divided into special Olympics for disabled people such as Winter Olympics, Paralympics and Special Olympics. Cities hosting the Olympic Games will host various sports events throughout the city and in other places. You also need to provide Olympic Village where its competitors and their coaches live. Each country has its own Olympic organization that is in charge of the care team. The Olympics are seen as the biggest event that spends a lot of time planning, designing and implementing.
