Identity Negotiation and Perception of Hair

Female hair is often referred to as "crown and glory" by her. Hair is an important physical characteristic of human self concept, and how others see their level of charm. One of the main internal prejudices of African Americans is the texture of the hair. This stigma is particularly common among African-American women. For African-American women, the hair brings more psychological complexity. Beginning with slavery, the texture of the African American hair and the pattern of curly hair were judged.

Over time, especially in the case of women, hair became part of understanding identity. Many people will connect Americans to the end and try to make African hair stereotyped, but the physical attributes are determined by the lineage rather than geographical factors. In African-American culture, hair is one of the few functions that ties individuals to African lineage. An African-American woman can find the grounds for black's pride from his hair, but you can also find the root of confusion of humiliation and identity.

Many of my work focuses on tangles of black hair. The problem of black female hair is like a white female weight problem - it is closely related to identity, perception of the world, and how you feel about yourself everyday. Many of the black hair women do not grow even if they do not hear the hair is bad, but I hear that it is a compound word with historical products "Hair is bad" (cousin's "good hair", etc.). All women are victims of the tyranny beauty industry, but black women are distorted uniquely by black female hair.

Hair is an important part of a black woman's identity. Throughout history, until now, a black woman was stretched out of the scalp and the curled hair was said to be all beautiful. In the workplace, black women say that their hair is not professional. At school, a small black girl was told that hair is distracting. Black hair is ridiculous in most public places, regardless of what it is in its natural style: long hair, scorpion, twist, black people and so on. Some black women like straight hair. This can be done by straightening the natural hair, stitching it, wearing a straight hair wig, and so on. Many people think that black women are trying to use more white features like Twitter men. This discussion has no effect as it does not criticize how whiteness, in particular the central beauty standards of Europe, make it a part of American culture systematically.
