Ida Tarbell the Muckraker: Digging up the Dirt

Mr. Ida Tarbell of Madaker: Discovery of Dirt Between the late 1800s and the early 1900s, changes in American society appeared clearly in the economy. The industrial economy has achieved a phenomenal expansion, presenting a new form of business organization, incorporating trust and holding company into the national image. The turn of the century is called "large-scale merger campaign", and more than 2,000 companies have been "swallowed" by 150 huge holding companies 1. This powerful industrial revolution caused controversy and caused social unrest.

At the end of the nineteenth century, irritating news appeared to deal with the excessive behavior of the gold plated era. Ida Tarbell is one of the most famous leaders. Talbell was born in 1857 in the cabin of Hatch Hollow, Pennsylvania, his first dream was to become a scientist. However, science is basically a pursuit of education that is considered not to be open to women, but to be more suitable for women. In 1883, she met Dr. Thomas Flood, editor of Chautauquan, a magazine published near Meadville, Pennsylvania. The flood is about to withdraw from his position, he asks Taber to help him for months in the process of finding his successor. She accepted as a writer and editor for Chautauquan for 6 years and eventually worked.

Ida Minerva Taber (5th November 1857 - 6th January 1944) was a teacher, writer and journalist. She was known as one of the main "tricks" of the time, and in modern times it was called "research news". She is writing a lot of famous magazine series and biographies. She is known for her "Standard Oil Company Standard" published in 1904. Her writing in the petroleum industry led to the breakdown of standard oil and the passing of the US antitrust law. Tabell also wrote several books for women and backed the peace movement after the First World War.
