I Stand Here Ironing: The 1950s Woman

Betty of "Pleasantville" has something in common with what he did in June "Leaving Beaver" and "The Donna Reed Show". They all represent the image of the perfect housewife of the 1950s. They represent a woman waiting for cooking, cleaning, pearls wearing, high healing, and an omniscient husband returning home. The women they represent can only find satisfaction and foster mother's love in male domination. As a single mother with four children (204), Tillie Olsen offers another viewpoint to the reader.
