I am Chinese-American. My woman's appearance makes people believe that I am an obedient person, but I am an independent, aggressive person. When I was young, my mother always stitched me a girl doll 's dress. Every morning she tied her hair with two small ponytails with a red ribbon. As I later saw in New York's channel 31, she showed me like a typical Chinese girl in obedience. Shy, like a little girl hugging her mother. On a cold morning in China, my mother always got up before dawn and prepared breakfast and went shopping.
The dictionary defines "culture" as "characteristics of behavior and belief in a particular society, race or age group". I am Chinese-American, also called ABC, Chinese born in the United States. I speak Cantonese and English. My parents are from China. I was born in Manhattan, New York, and grew up in New York. My culture has many different things from other cultures. Many people with different cultural backgrounds have different foods, festivals, and religions.
This paper explores the differences in overall value structure between Chinese and American culture. Research shows that the dimension of the potential value of Chinese culture is different from American culture. In comparison with US respondents, respondents in China seem to have more cohesion in determining their value structure. Furthermore, this research shows that different cultures differ in their unique value composition. In other words, specific value structures may not be directly comparable in different cultures. Because they have different definitions and different ranges and depths in different cultures.
