Shirley Jackson's "Lottery" is a short story about villagers' annual rituals held annually. The ceremony ended with the stone throw of the inhabitants of this small village. This homicide was performed by a sacrament attire that was once devoted to ensuring a good harvest. However, this primitive meaning has been lost for many generations and for generations of villagers.
