MSE has become a global business, evolving in a way that affects US leadership in the MSE sub-sector. Various trends such as globalization of technology in the 21st century, expansion of international and multinational industries and economic activities promote globalization of research and development. Information technology and global communication have influenced the implementation of research and development in myriad ways and they enable them to develop new global models

This research defines globalization of MSE R & D as a global expansion of the MSE Knowledge Creation Center. This is the result of the expansion of global cooperative relationships between the US and non-US industries and government investment and information technology. Data and evidence accumulated by the committee leads to several conclusions presented in this report and repeated in this chapter and outlines the basic principles of each item. The conclusion focuses on globalization and the current state of MSE R & D and the impact of globalization.
