Writing the second language is a relatively new field compared to the other aspects of the instructional language. But there are still a lot of unsolved problems. Among all the dilemmas of L2 composition guidance, perhaps the most important and most problematic is how to improve students' writing skills (CPC, page 94). Feedback is an important part in teaching the second language sentences and teachers spend a lot of time and effort to provide feedback on errors written in EFL learners' composition.
The first year of writing (also referred to as fresh student composition or freshman writing) is a beginner level core course writing course for American universities. This course focuses on improving students' ability to write at university and introduces subjects and professional writing methods to students. As these courses traditionally require freshmen, the former name is "freshman composition." Scholars working in the field of composition rhetoric often use the first year of composition (FYC) as the practical focus of their academic research.
Section 073 English 125 is a lighting course designed to prepare you for various lighting you will complete in your university career. The purpose of this course is to make students become analytical readers and improve the ability to write clear and powerful essays. In this course you will need to modify student assignments, write journals, and analyze specified reading and writing by classmates. Most of the lesson hours are used for discussions about seminars and designated reading rather than lectures. (Harper)
This course is designed to provide critical English instructional literature and culture guidance to UCLA English majors. Its purpose is to help students improve their skills and abilities in literary and cultural analyzes. This is a workshop to discover richer literary problems, to analyze complicated text more subtlely, maintain discussion, and develop your own authoritative voice. Because this course assumes that writing is a process, students write, rewrite and discuss all writing tasks. Requirements include shorthand work (page 1-3) and final thesis (page 6-8). The grades are based on 50% of the final manuscript (including preparation and draft), and other written assignments and participation. If you are studying English 110A, you can not earn credits.
