How to Do a Visual Analysis (A Five-Step Process)

One of the best ways to improve visual literacy and visual communication skills is to analyze certain visual artifacts. If you have never done it before, the visual analysis looks a bit overwhelming. Create visual artifacts that need to consider images, such as highway signs, Andy Warhol paintings, or new toasters for sale. In visual analysis, we need to think about artifacts, their role in society, and the influence it has on the audience. To do this analysis, you need to know how to do five important things.

In my experience, students close to visual analysis think that they have to find controversial visual artifacts (such as lingerie ads that sell products using teenagers). However, thousands of visual objects and images rotate around us to create a statement worthy of evaluation. The process we propose combines these two important methods and creates a list of five stages of fair analysis based on research questions that can be combined separately or ideally for one study .
