How much do you use today out of the best engineering achievements of the 20th century? Is it a car? computer? phone? Explore our list of 20 accomplishments, learn how engineering shapes the century and how to change the world
In the last century, technology development grew exponentially, but this is impossible without ceramics. Below is a list of 20 engineering achievements (www.greatachievements.org/) of the National Academy of Engineering that will have the greatest impact on the quality of life in the 20th century and how ceramic materials can live for all humanity It shows how you can make it easier.
In February of this year, the NAE collaborated with the Engineering Professionals Association to select 20 best engineering achievements of the 20th century. The main criterion of choice is not the technology "Gee Wis", but the result of improving the quality of life for people. The results prove the strength and prospects of the project. Looking back at the list it is clear that our world will be a very different place if any of its elements are deleted. This list covers a wide range of human efforts, from a wide range of grid networks (No. 1) to development of high-performance materials (No. 20). Advances between the two are all aspects of people's lives (Safe Water, No. 4 and Medical Technology, No. 16), people's way of working (computer, number 8 and phone number, 9), that people play I changed almost completely. Road (broadcasting, television, part 6), way people move (car, part 2, airplane, part 3)
However, some achievements, including phones and cars that were not invented in the 20th century, were included because their effect did not actually appear until the 20th century. The most important accomplishment electrification is essential to almost every part of modern society, and literally illuminates the world and affects myriad areas of daily life including food production and processing, air conditioning and heating I will. "Refrigeration, entertainment, transportation, communications, health care and computers" By the end of 2003, the National Engineering Academy announced "Innovation Century: Changing 20 Engineering Outcomes in Our Lives".
To celebrate the amazing technical achievement of the century, the greatest achievement was initiated by the NAE and in collaboration with the American Technical Association, the National Engineers' Week and 27 other professional Engineering Associations. These associations recommended over 100 nominations to the best performance list and the NAE selection committee selected and ranked the top 20 using a comprehensive evaluation process. In connection with the announcement of Armstrong, NAE announced a website that highlights the top 20 achievements. On the website www.greatachievements.org, actual results are posted and the impact of these on the quality of life is explained. In addition, the history of development of major engineering events is summarized briefly.
