How does technology affect family life?

In recent years, we have experienced a digital revolution that has penetrated every aspect of our lives, from how to consume to how to receive public services, and communication with family and friends. Despite all these changes, there are few opportunities to think about the changes that new technology brings to our personal and family life.

BBC recently reviewed this with the documentary series "Back to the Weekend". This explains to the family from the 1950s to the present how the change in technology affects daily life and family relations.

In response to these changes and discussions on these important issues, the Family Relations Research Center and the Scottish Child Care Center develop knowledge exchange programs called "Digital Families Over Life History" funded by the University of Scotland Insight Laboratory Did.

The program considers three life stages - digital revolution of childhood, family life, and age. Such as how different generations experience, the contribution of digital technology to the development and maintenance of social networks, the balance of education, work and life, the impact on lifelong learning and happiness, and various access and use of digital technology, We will explore various problems. The scholars behind the program hope to have a more delicate discussion on typical "dual" arguments of the pros and cons of new technologies. They want to promote new collaborations to ensure that research and new thinking provide information for policy and practice.

In order to stimulate our discussion at the second workshop "Digital home continues to exist", we asked for a short film to understand the citizens' perceptions of digital technology and family life.

At the end of the program, we will prepare briefing sessions to summarize topics born from three events and develop future actions.
