My fans may have remembered that I was one of the first middle members, but canceled my membership after the first month. I wrote an article about why the medium partnership / member philosophy is bad, I hope your friends @ Medium, medium staff, and Ev Williams can read and review criticisms. My main disagreement at that time was that Medium paid only to writers appointed by the editors. I understood that this is unacceptable. What we want is to get rid of the editor so that we (readers) become our own editors, we can find stories that we can and willing to pay . After all, we are adults and we can make such decisions by ourselves.
If you think that I canceled my IAPWE membership, you are right, but even so, you will find more suspicious practices. I logged in to their website to cancel and immediately received an e-mail with the subject "Please confirm account cancellation". To cancel, please click the "Subscribe Confirmation" button in the mail body. Talk about mixed information. Anyway, when I clicked on the button, I immediately received a second e-mail with "Important Cancellation Instruction" written.
Thank you Tamara, this well-written, well-studied article. I have a day with membership of IAPWE and canceled it. (Just cancel the recurring payment with your PayPal account, you do not need to send an e-mail to IAPWE by e-mail.) Even if the original e-mail "Amy Wilkerson" sent a red mark. Focused on the freelance work, I signed up for membership ($ 5.25) anyway and I thought the link on the work board is worthwhile. But ... I've been thinking about 'accepted' emails. Why did Amy send Basecamp's work link in the first e-mail? This is pointless. Why do you accept spelling errors in e-mails? It is strange for such "professional" writer / editor organization. Why is IAPWE accredited as "IAPWE Certified Writer" why should I pay for commercial members? They saw a short sample of the sentences I sent during the application process.
