How are Malcolm X and Frederick Douglass Alike and Different

Malcolm X is hard to live. His father was mysteriously murdered and his mother was mentally ill and his parents were missing. He began selling illegal substances and robbers. He also has a hard time in economics. In 1946, Malcolm X was 20 years old and was imprisoned for 10 years due to robbery. Malcolm X and Frederick Douglass both live a painful life. Born in the early 1800s, Frederick Douglas was born as a slave of life. Although Malcolm era racist still exists, Frederic Douglas is even more so in his era. Frédérique Douglas did not receive education as the ointment at that time was not allowed to teach. The only thing taught him to do as a slave obeys his master is what they know. Frederic Douglas has very limited access to education, but Malcolm is free. Both Malcolm X and Frederick Douglass taught themselves. Malcolm X received education until the eighth grade. Likewise, Malcolm X was in an oppressive state when he started his education. Like Douglas, Malcolm X started with a bit of reading and writing skills. But they all strongly desire to learn. For Malcom, reading was that he ran away from prison, which helped him spend his time. As he said, "I have been away from prison ever since, and if I am not in the library, I am reading my shop" (3). Reading makes it possible to allow him to access books to build his own vocabulary and help them understand slavery atrocities. This eventually allowed him to reach a higher level of thought and ultimately became a leader in the African American community. Both of them have humble beginnings when it comes to their education.

Most people learn to read and write using classrooms and classroom workbooks. Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X do not have these benefits. Frederick Douglas and Malcolm X have major obstacles, but reading and writing are possible. There are some differences in literacy rates, but similarities are most prominent. They all learned their own reading and writing, became an independent thinker in the process, which had a great influence on others. Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X are very witty and self-reliant in the process of literacy. They are diligent because they spend more time they learn. "Because slaves were taught to read ... this is almost an unacceptable crime," the slave owner deliberately did not allow education as a means of slavery repression (Douglas 146).
