The combination of these unique attributes creates a unique style and structure backbone of Cisneros. This novel is like a poem, so it confuses many critics and readers, but in reality it is a story. Cisneros admits that many episodes are "lazy verses". This means that if she takes time to finish them, she can become a poet (Olivares 145).
