Horses Have Shaped History

Arabic or Arabian horses (Arabic: الحصان العربي, DMGḥiṣān'arabī) are horses born on the Arabian peninsula. It is also one of the oldest varieties with archeological evidence of the horse of the Middle East, as well as the modern Arabs dating back to 4,500 years. Throughout history Arab horse spread all over the world through war and trade to improve other varieties by increasing speed, refinement, endurance and strong bones. Arabian horses, the earliest improved breed varieties, are rated by their speed, endurance (see picture), beauty, wisdom and kindness. The long history of varieties has been hidden by legends, which was developed in Arabia in the 7th century AD. Arabian horses provide quality to modern most kinds of light horses. Arabian breeds are relatively small horses with small heads, conspicuous eyes, wide nostrils, and sharp shoulder and back. It usually has 23 vertebrae, and 24 is the usual number for other breeds. The average height of a horse is about 15 hands (60 inches, or 152 cm), and the weight is 800 to 1,000 pounds (360 to 450 kilograms). It has a strong foot and a wonderful hoof. Coat, tail, bristles are delicate and smooth hair. Available in various colors, gray still dominates. The most famous stud farm is located in the Najd district of Saudi Arabia, but many fine Arabic horses are breeding elsewhere at the moment.
