Among all that Thurmond is concerned, the integrated pool is probably the most embarrassing. Jeff Wiltse detailed the topic in his book "Contested Waters: Swimming History of Swimming Countries". And it details the political situation of the pool during the quarantine period. Mr. Wiltse explained that despite the popularity of municipal pools in the northern part of the nineteenth century, few people made pools in areas where blacks lived. But in the 1920s and 1930s Willet explained the "pool building carnival" where thousands of ordinary luxurious pools were built in the United States. As they do movies they frequently join the swimming pool, swimming pools rapidly become very important for public life.

He is currently working on a project called "Incoming Harmony: American Urban Public Music, 1800-1920".
