Welcome: The free historical map of the Mississippi Locator Project is pleased to help you locate, search, and display high resolution images of the 20th century Mississippi Map. More than 700 maps currently containing increasing stocks and the information contained therein have been formatted as relational databases. You do not need to be familiar with the complex mechanism of the database. It is always transparent. However, the function of the history map database can be used.

Jackson State University (JSU) is a long-established black college located on 125 acres campus near Downtown Mississippi State Jackson, has been designated state university of state higher education system since 1979. The school was founded in 1877 by the American Baptist Family Missionary Church as "Natchez Seminary School" as "to improve the moral, religious and intellectual qualities of color Christian leaders in the state of Mississippi and neighboring countries." Natchez moved in 1882, but Jackson 's curriculum was expanded and the school' s name was changed to Jackson 's University. The American Baptist Family Missionary Association urged the university's support in the 1930's and urged the government to seek national support to continue its operation. The State of Mississippi received support from the college in 1940 and ordered that the primary purpose of the school was to train teachers.
