Unfortunately, it formed a bad reputation for drugs, violence, abuse and gang. When people relate hip hop to things, there is a negative image that will normally appear in the minds of people. Sadly, Hip-Hop / Rap has excellent artistic quality for them and tends to be overlooked. Behind these lyrics and beat there are real poetry and emotions, but I do not think that anyone can sit down and listen.
