Henrik Ibsen's Influence on the World of Literature

The Ibsen Association (ISA) was founded in 1978, when the Ibsen annual symposium was held in New York to commemorate the 150th birthday of Ibsen's birth. Excellent Ibsen translator and critic, Professor of literature at Pratt Institute, and organizer of the seminar Rolf Felde was elected founding chairman. In December 1979, ISA was certified as a nonprofit corporation under the State Law of New York. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Ibsen's birth in 2006, the Norwegian government held the Ibsen year including celebrations around the world. Every year since 2008, the annual "Delhi Ibsen Festival" was held in Delhi, India, sponsored by the Theater Arts Design School (DADA) in cooperation with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in India.
